FEBRUARY MEETING MINUTES 2008

The Southland Fly Wheelers met on February 14, 2008 at the Greenbriar Restaurant with 31 people attending. Marshall Springer led the prayer and we had our meal. Matt Calahan, President, called the meeting to order. Marshall Springer gave the Treasury report –Balance of $1626 plus $70 Dues & $200 AL Jubilee Reimbursement. Congratulations to Burton Marsh for being on Channel 6 Fox News in Birmingham on Absolute Alabama. Matt & Lee bought CD Farm Collector Magazine for $50. The Club has Utility Trailer Raffle Tickets for sell. We also have Club Business Cards & Madison Show Flyers to give out.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Bylaws- Matt asked if could have a committee on looking at the Dues & Membership section, so we can follow more closely. John Lowe said he would help.
2. Hats – Matt Calahan said companies haven’t been able to screen-print our Logo, so Bill Friday said he will take our Logo and work with it so we could screen-print it.
3. Madison Show March 15- We will have the Peddle Park, Burton Marsh will bring the Big Cotton Gin Engine. Because of lack of space we will not have the Tractor Games. The Club voted to let Ms. Cindy set up her Food Vender to sell food items, the club will get a percentage. We reserved 2 Port-a-Potties at $75 each. The Club voted No Trophies will be given out. George White asked the Club to spend $200 on Door Prizes – Club agreed. The Club Voted to pass out 100 Buttons for Madison Show & 100 Plaques for Al. Jubilee Show. Maybe Milton Ratliff can put picture on the Buttons – Marshall asked for a Yellow Tractor.
4. Work Days – March 1, 8:30 At Harold Caneer’s House. Lunch will be provided either by donation or club will pay. March 22, help move stuff that was donated to the Club. It is at the Oakwood & Meridian area. Bring your Trailer. If anyone has any extra space to store items please let Matt or Lee know.
5. Advertise – The Club used the $200 AL Jubilee money to advertise in some Tractor Magazines..
6. Spring Farm Day- April 4-6, Burritt Museum. Lunch will be provided Friday & Saturday. We can set up on Thursday. They asked for any Farm equipment 1950 and Earlier. The Club will set up out Tent & Booth.

FEBRUARY MEETING MINUTES 2007

The Southland FlyWheelers met on February 8, 2007 at the Greenbrier Restaurant with 30 people attending. Marshall Springer led the prayer and we had our meal. Matt Calahan, President, had a Death in the family so the meeting was called to order by Lee White, Vice President. Marshall Springer gave the treasurer report stating we had a balance of $ 599.20 after Buying T-Shirts, Tables, Tickets, etc. T-Shirts are for sale at $10.00 each. We still need to order CAPS. 2000 Cards made up with Show Dates some with/without Web Site, passed out to members.

OLD BUSINESS: Hal Hoaglin put the Madison Show only in Farm Collector & Gas Engine Magazines. Lee White & George White went to Cookeville, TN. Swap meet and tried to Raffle the Trailer but could not because TN Lottery Rules. Marshall Springer talked about newsletter to Charter Members. Lee White reminded all Members about Past Dues.

NEW BUSINESS:
Web Site: The Club Voted to keep the Web Site this Year for $ 100.00.
Show Games: George White is now Game Director - Start Chain in Box, Barrel Roll & Others.
Concessions: Lisa Calahan – Director. The Club voted to run Concessions at the Shows for
Lunch. It was asked whether we still need permits since we are Non-Profit?
Furthermore, we should try to have soft drinks at the Tables.
Shows: Lee White set a time at 10:00 am Friday, to set up Canopy. Toward the end of the show
the Club will hold a Benefit Auction before the Door prize’s. No Parade for the Madison
Show. Hal Hoaglin suggested that we get some kind of a Tractor Parade.
Buttons & Plaques: Marshall Springer & Larry Vest – Directors. The Club voted Buttons only for
the Madison Show. Marshall will order 100 Buttons, if a person wants a
picture on a button please talk with Larry.
Trophy’s: J.C.Prater & Billy Ferguson – Directors. The Club voted to give away trophies at the
Jubilee Show. We have 9 trophies & 1 broke in the Trailer. George said it will cost
$ 3.00 each to replace the labels. It was suggested that we give a trophy to the Oldest,
Distance away, etc.
Minutes: Hal Hoaglin suggested that we put minutes on the Web Site or Email.
Raffle Tickets: Lee White asked if anyone needed tickets; please turn them in at the next meeting or next show.
New Board Member: George White was elected since Marshall is now the treasurer.
Check Book: The Club voted to add Lee White to also sign checks.
Newsletter: Lee White mentioned that we be sure to fill out the surveys. The Club sends out 140
Newsletter’s at a cost of $ 54.60. Since each color page will cost an extra .39 cents,
the Club voted to wait until the November meeting to decide what to do.
New Signs: The Club voted to Buy 2 signs. 1. Liability Sign at cost of $30.00 for the Wagon.
2. Peddle Park Sign at cost of $30.00.
Work Day: The Feb.17, work day has been changed to Feb, 24, at 9:00am at Burton Marsh’s
House. The agenda is to work on Club Trailer & Big Stationary 100HP Engine –
Try to have Running for the Point Mallard Show.

NEXT MEETING: May 10, 2007 at Greenbrier Restaurant at 6:00 pm. Lee White Challenged each member to call another member to try to Attend the next meeting.

The Southland FlyWheelers met on November 8, 2007 at the Greenbriar Restaurant with 17 people attending. Billy Ferguson led the prayer and we had our meal. Lee White,Vice President. Called the meeting to order. Marshall Springer gave the Treasury report –After we paid for the Raffle Trailer & T-Shirts we have a Balance of $ 1890.00.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Sponsors – For the Trailer we have Abercrombie Tire who gives us a $200.00 Credit. We also now have a new sponsor, Nationwide Ins. on Slaughter Rd. which gives us $200.00 a year for 2 sides.
2. Hats – Matt Calahan checked on 3 places. They will only do Embroidery. So the new cost will about $10.00 Solid & $8.50 Mesh. How many does the Club want to order? Bill Gray offered to do some more checking so we decided to wait until the next meeting to decide what to order.
3. Fun Day Visitation - On Saturday Dec 1, 2007, The Club will Rent a 15 Passenger Van to go visit our members homes. The Van will be at the Madison Cracker Barrel at 7:00. then will be at the Athens Cracker Barrel around 7:30. They will then visit Ron Hatfield , Harley Marsh , Lunch , Alton Landers , Charles Wilson , J.L. Peppers Machine Shop. They plan to end around 6 – 6:30.
4. Show Dates – The last of November is the Cullman Show. Dec. 8, The Wagon will be in the Madison Christmas Parade. March 15, 08 Swap Meet, April 4-5 Burritt Museum & Snead Show, Memorial Day Jubilee Show.
5. Advertise – The Question came up Should we Advertise our Shows in some Mags or Trade Papers. Larry Vest said he will check into it.
6. Burton Marsh Birthday - December 29, 07 at 9:00 Burton will have a Open House to all who wants to Attend.
